A London-based medical devices company commissioned OES Inc. to design, develop, and manufacture, an intelligent single axis motion control device and related software for their breathing motion simulator. 

The company investigated many off-the-shelf solutions before commissioning OES to develop a solution for their specific requirements.  OES's intelligent single axis stepper motor controller offers many advantages, including an Ethernet connection, the elimination of numerous individual devices, and far greater stepper motor control and product functionality.  This system has wide application where intelligent motion control capability is required. 

In this specific application, the state-of-the-art breathing simulator is used for conducting quality assurance testing on radiotherapy systems. Using a laptop to communicate with the device, technicians select from standardized test objects, which in turn allows the system to simulate a patient's breathing function. The simulators are used for regularly scheduled testing, as well as commissioning new systems and upgrades, and testing repairs.
